Netflix Fix: Twin Peaks!

I’m about 23 years late to the party on this one, but guys – Twin Peaks is AMAZING. In 1990, David Lynch and Mark Frost created this completely unique gift to prime time television and it aired prime time on ABC – the station that now brings us such mind-bending art as Dancing with the Stars and Celebrity Wife Swap. Watching Twin Peaks now, it’s nearly impossible to believe it attained any mainstream success at all – though it did only last two seasons. It leads me to think – has network television been dumbed down for the masses or have the masses dumbed down network television? If Twin Peaks came out now, I think it would probably be more successful than in 1990 on a cable channel like AMC.

I’ll be honest – the only David Lynch films I’ve seen are Eraserhead (which I’m a little obsessed with) and The Straight Story. I can assure you that this will be remedied ASAP. Must insert all David Lynch creations into my brain. I’ve just finished Season 1 of Twin Peaks via Netflix Instant and can’t wait to watch Season 2…and then probably watch it all again. It’s so mesmerizing in every single way.
