Building a bed palace!

I don’t know who popularized the concept of creating a “bed palace” but it might be our very own PA Melissa! And yessss I’m going to reference that episode of SATC where Miranda is trying to make her bedroom more awesome and improve her ‘bed karma’ and is all ‘if you build it they will come’ or something because guess what: having a comfortable bed that you want to spend a lot of time in is REALLY important. Comfortable bed = happy life. Here is the main point: having all white bedding is fantastic and everyone should do it. Why?

  • It creates a soothing vibe, man.
  • It allows for a perfect palate for any throws or pillows you want to add (and change out every so often to you know, keep things spicy in the decor department).
  • It’s easy to mix and match your white on white on white bedding.
  • These sheets are somehow just WAY softer and way more comfortable than any other sheets we’ve ever had. I am not kidding! I often wake up and the first thought that goes through my head is “these sheets are so soft and light and airy and I want to stay here forever.”

When Dan and I decided to try and streamline the decor in our apartment a while back, white bedding was a part of my master plan (still being enacted, piece by piece). We went with some Pottery Barn action (PB essential sheets and duvet cover to be exact). Since then, I’ve spent many a night with these sheets thinking “how did I not have this level of sleeping comfort in my life until now?” It sounds crazy that they could be that different from any other semi-nice sheets, but they really just feel that way. I am not kidding, I really wake up every day and the first thought that goes through my head is ‘sooo comfy…. soft sheeeeetss.’ Apartment Therapy gives some good recommendations on white bedding too.

Also, recognize the pillows!?  I shop from our own blog action. And of course props to ma dukes Jean for making the blanket at the foot of the bed. She should really open her own etsy shop.
