If there’s one thing I like to have on reserve in the fridge in case of emergency, it’s a bottle of bubbly. We’re not fancy in these parts, so we stick to a good cava that we pick up at BQE wines & liquors. I’ve tried many a bubbly, but my go-to cheapo favorite is Segura Viudas. At BQE it costs less than $7 a bottle, and it’s absolutely delicious. But every once in a while, when you’re hanging out at home having a happy hour drink, you want something more than just the fizzy stuff. Sometimes you want a cocktail. So here’s my advice: pick up a bottle of Fee Brothers Orange Bitters and put it on your cocktail cart. A couple of drops and you have what I like to call an instant cocktail.
PS: PA Melissa and I discovered recently that orange bitters are a great way to make a slightly too sweet lambrusco taste like a nice summery sangria. So there you have it, orange bitters – the instant cocktail muse.
