Netflix Fix: Wuthering Heights

As y’all have likely observed by now, many of the Power Animals are serious lovers of period pieces. I am no stranger to this serious love, so I was psyched recently to find a Masterpiece Classic miniseries of Wuthering Heights on Netflix Instant. It stars that dude who played the I-have-nothing-to-live-for war vet brother in Warrior, and who also played one of the many dudes in Inception. Tom Hardy is actually a really amazing actor, and it turns out the actress who plays Cathy  happens to be his wife IRL. I highly recommend this miniseries, friends! The actors are all well cast, the scenery is lovely, and it is beautifully shot.

And! Furthermore! Thanks to this post, I just learned that a new film version of Wuthering Heights is to be released in 2011, and it will star Skins UK’s Kaya Scoldelario as Cathy, as well as the first ever black actor to play the formidable Heathcliff, newcomer James Howson. I can’t wait to see this new version in the theater, as the casting of Kaya Scoldelario and the directing of Andrea Arnold (Fish Tank) ensures that this will get at least a 75% on the tomatometer. Here’s hoping that it is 100% fresh…
