What We’re Watching on TV

Game of Thrones
The Sopranos meets Lord of the Rings — there is war, mystical beings, and family drama. Having read all the books, all we can say is that if you stick with the show — it’s guaranteed that you will have your mind blown by crazy twists and turns on multiple occasions. Check it out Sundays at 9:00 PM on HBO.

RuPaul’s Drag Race
RuPaul might just be the most lovable person on earth, and the show is equal parts heartwarming and hilarious. “If you can’t love yourself, how the hell are you gonna love somebody else?  Can I get an amen!” Check it out Mondays at 10:00 PM on LOGO.

Parks and Recreation
Now on its third season, with the addition of Adam Scott and Rob Lowe (and of course Lil Sebastian) its better than ever. If you missed the first two seasons, we definitely recommend catching up. Check out past seasons on Netflix Instant and new episodes on Thursdays at 9:30 PM on NBC.

The Borgias
The Borgias is all about family drama, crime, politics, and sex in the Renaissance under the corrupt rule of Pope Alexander VI played perfectly by Jeremy Irons. Check it out Sundays at 9:00 PM on Showtime.

The Good Wife
Julianna Margulies plays the role of a publicly shamed politician’s wife impeccably with just the right amount of bitter, restrained sentimentality necessary. And then, of course, who can resist Alan Cumming? Check it out Tuesdays at 10:00 PM on CBS.

Like a weekly after-school special on, shall we say, steroids and e, Glee is admittedly cheesy. But the brilliant cast and genuinely funny one-liners keep the emotionally-charged (emotionally-manipulative?) musical numbers and “believe in yourself” rhetoric in balance. It’s cheesy, but like an awesome cheese. Like Gruyere-y. Check out the first season on Netflix Instant and new episodes on Tuesdays at 8:00 PM on Fox.

The Killing
AMC is on a serious original series roll.  This new crime drama about the murder of a high school girl premiered at the beginning of April and we are already hooked.  Set in Seattle, the dark and moody visuals really work to set the scene, and the twists that every episode has had so far are keeping us guessing. Check it out Sundays at 10:00 PM on AMC.
