Essential Mixtape: Get DEEPER into Yeezus


In this internet world where a day seems like a lifetime, Yeezus is really standing the test of time for me. I keep coming back to it and loving it more with each listen. (Good work, Kanye – I know you need that reassurance.) A lot of Yeezus’s greatness comes from its production, and therefore samples – the gospel snippet from “On Sight,” the uh-huh-honey from epic banger “Bound 2, the psych-rock breakdown in “New Slaves” – so learning more about from whence they came is, for me, infinitely interesting. Gianni Lee and Mike Blud sleuthed a bunch of these sample sources out and created this excellent mixtape.
