Full disclosure: I was originally introduced to Haerfest through Steve, who just last year started collaborating with them by photographing their collection for their website. Steve came home one day with a weathered leather wallet/card holder that he had bought for me, that I really thought I’d only use on occasion. But the more I used my Haerfest wallet, the more complements I got, and the more I realized that I had made a permanent switch. It’s the simplicity of the design that hits you first – a seamless melding of form and function. Then you pick it up, and feel the quality of the materials – a soft cowhide with an antiqued brass ring and zipper that wear in beautifully with use.
My wallet doesn’t begin to tell the Haerfest story. With each season, they add new luxurious functional objects to their collection. From tote bags to clutches, backpacks to sneakers, and a brass shoe horn thrown in here and there. I would also recommend adding their blog to your reader if you’re looking for some pared back inspiration. And a final plug for my husband, check out his interview, featured on the home page.
You can find Haerfest online and at several NY boutiques, including Opening Ceremony and Creature Comforts.
