In perhaps the first incident of intentional informerciaLULZ, I give you the How to Sharpen Pencils commercial. I am a longtime fan of David Rees and his many accomplishments – Get Your War On, My New Filing Technique Is Unstoppable, artisanal pencil sharpening, etc etc etc – but clearly, I’m watching the wrong cable channels at the wrong hours because I hadn’t seen this amazing commercial for his book “How to Sharpen Pencils” until now (on the internet). Voila.
So cute, so lulz-filled. My favorite part of this commercial might be the people who don’t get the joke and just get mad about it – please see the YouTube comments or David Rees’s Twitter feed where he frequently retweets confused people’s laments for examples. Also, side fact, the woman playing the hapless pencil user at the beginning is New Yorker copy editor Mary Norris. (Read about her experience shooting the commercial here.)
