Kaufmann Mercantile, you’ve done it again. You’ve managed to hit me with another perfectly crafted specimen of an object that’s been around for centuries. Frustrated with my own sub par stapler, incapable of attaching more than 10 pages at a time, I started my search for a new one. Of course, Staples was not exactly my shop of choice. I wanted something more worthy of a simple-but-practical design aesthetic. The El Casco Stapler just pulled at every string in my heart. Not only does it fulfill my need for a hand-crafted look, but it appeals to my ancestral blood – these chrome staplers are made in Spain, land of my Basque family. Better yet, my inner Annie Oakley, being made by a former gun manufacturer and all. But really, all I want is a beautiful piece that does its job, and I have a hunch that this thing will last me throughout my hopefully long academic career.
Check out the goods at the Kaufman Mercantile website. The price is steep, but the investment is sound – $125 for a lifetime of stapling.
