It wasn’t surprising when Cube 63 – easily the 100th sushi restaurant in the Cobble Hill/Boerum Hill/Carroll Gardens area – closed. It took me a few months to notice that a new place had opened in its space last spring and a few more to actually go in and try the food. When I did, I was pleasantly surprised. It was super cozy inside and the food – especially the pasta dishes – were amazingly delicious. The mussels with lavender was an unlikely, but delectable, combination. I loved the pasta with crab meat and corn which was perfectly light and summery (you’ll have to wait until warmer weather for this one). Next time, I have to try the sweet potato gnocchi with turkey and cranberry – sounds like Thanksgiving pasta!
Inside the restaurant, Brucie has a small market where customers can buy Cool Haus ice cream sandwiches, Blue Bottle coffee, and P&H Soda Co. soda syrups. They also have a lasagna and meatball drop off service – you drop off a pan and pick it up full of lasagna or meatballs 24 hours later.
Stop by Brucie’s restaurant/storefront at 234 Court Street.
