Netflix Fix: Practical Magic

Practical Magic, with Sandra Bullock and Nicole Kidman, came out in 1998 and is the latest Netflix Instant gem that I found on a recent lazy Sunday.

I remember watching this movie years ago and thinking it was fine, but rewatching it is so enjoyable.  The fashion!  Maxi dresses, velvet, tons of jewelry, belly shirts and long witchy hair abounds.  And the music…I had totally forgotten about an amazing Fleetwood Mac gem, “Crystal“, until it popped up in this movie, and now I can’t stop listening to it.

As usual Bullock is easy and fun to watch and Nicole Kidman is a total weirdo although it works for her in this role.  Half of the movie (about a family of witches who are cursed to always have the men they love die early deaths) makes no sense but when you just want to veg out and watch a silly movie, who cares?  Also, Stockard Channing is in it, and I gotta tell you guys, I effing love that woman.

Check out Practical Magic on Netflix Instant, then immediately download Fleetwood Mac’s Crystal and practice dancing in a witchy way (while drunk on tequila, preferably).

PS – Extra points if you can pick out a young Evan Rachel Wood in the movie!
