I shudder to think of how many classes in college I missed because of American McGee’s Alice (the precursor to the new EA title, Alice: Madness Returns). I bought it with PA Kiki on a whim at our local Target (back then it was for PC only), and immediately became obsessed with it. The gameplay eventually got so hard for me that I recruited my roommate Gregg and together we spent hours navigating Alice through the increasingly creepy and disturbing levels of Wonderland. The music gave me the willies and the concept, at the time, was fresh: Alice had never been to a Wonderland, but instead was in an insane asylum, having lost her parents in a fire that she may or may not have set herself. Fun PA fact: Kiki was too scared to play the game. : )
The original Alice game was released in 2000 so you can imagine how excited I am, after 11 years, to finally have a new Alice to play!
Available for PS3, XBox 360 and PC, the game retails for $59.99, is out now, and can be snatched up at Amazon or your local video game store.
Rumor has it that the new Alice has the original game bundled with it as DLC (downloadable content)…if so then this is a real deal! If any of you play this let me know, I am definitely going to be heading out and picking this up in the next few days.
