BlackBoardEats is something that I, an obvious food-lover, was introduced to by a food loving co-worker. BlackBoardEats is a neat service that you can sign up for to opt-in for various local restaurant deals – 30% off dinner for example, or certain free appetizers, or a set meal at a discounted price.
New deals are presented for a limited time on a weekly-ish basis, and you once you sign up for their e-mails, you have the option of requesting the coupon code for any deals that look interesting to you. It’s a great way to get introduced to new restaurants that you might not otherwise go to, with no risk or commitment.
I would have shared it much earlier but for a little while there, BBE and I were going through a bit of a rough patch – BBE started charging for its codes. It was only a dollar, but it made me feel like I had to choose my coupons very carefully, and turned me off the idea a bit. However, it looks like I wasn’t the only one feeling this way, and recently, BBE returned to its former free state. Consequently, I can once again recommend it wholeheartedly as yet another way to explore our fine city (with your stomach). And, since codes are also available for Los Angeles and San Francisco in addition to New York, West Coasters, vacationers, and lucky bi-coastal dwellers can explore as well.
