Watch Portlandia and Put a Bird on It!

Although set in Portland, anyone who lives in Brooklyn should also find this “Put a Bird on It” skit from the new IFC show Portlandia highly amusing and accurate! The new comedy show is created, written by and starring Fred Armisen (SNL) and Carrie Brownstein (Sleater-Kinney) and premiered on IFC last month.

I just watched an full episode last night and while it was a little hit and miss overall it has some hilarious parts and I want to keep watching. I was also really digging Carrie Brownstein’s wardrobe, especially her blazers.

This cracks me up, especially because I put a bird on it to cover a large whole in the wall of my new apartment. So Brooklyn, so funny, and so true. Bird, Catbird…I’m sure there are more birds that I can’t think of right now.

Dan and I were at dinner in Scotland and we ended up chatting with another couple who spend part of their time in Portland and they were all, of course you’ve seen Portlandia. I almost yelped out “put a bird on it!” but managed to restrain myself. It was like I had Portlandia Tourette’s.
