I have never worn a lot of jewelry so when it came time to give my boyfriend ideas about what kind of engagement ring I wanted, I was at a loss. I knew I wanted something handmade and if there were any diamonds, I wanted to know where they came from. After going to a few small stores around Brooklyn, I came across Sarah Perlis.
Sarah has been designing jewelry for ten years out of her Lower East Side studio and uses rough uncut diamonds that are resourced through a company that focuses on environmental responsibility and ethical working conditions. Her work is unique, simple and incorporates a variety of organic elements. My engagement ring features a rose cut emerald with two small diamonds on either side. The band is hammered and I love the imperfection of the shape.
Now, Sarah is having a 20% off holiday sale through Christmas with the code JOY2010 and I am loving her bracelets and necklaces. The prices are a little out of my freelance lifestyle league but if I had the money, I love the rosecut diamond necklace, above, and the smokey black / gray teardrop rose cut diamond bracelet, right. You can check all the goodness out right here.
