The World of Top Coats: Seche Vite

I have a bit of an obsession with nail polish. I find it hard to walk out of Ricky’s or the newly expanded beauty section of Duane Reade without at least one new bottle of polish. But I want my polish to last, so I’m in the market for a top coat that will make my at home manicures last more than just a few days. I decided to start by trying out THE name in top coats — Seche Vite.

Seche Vite is a fast dry top coat and it definitely dries fast. It went on smoothly, no bumps or bubbles and was completely dry in less than five minutes. It has a nice shine but try two coats for just a little extra sparkle.

After only two days, I already started seeing major signs of damage. There were small chips on the thumb and a lot of tip wear. By day five, there were many large chips and it was definitely time to change my polish.

So far, I’m not sold on this one. What I want in a top coat is something that will provide a little extra shine and extend the wear of my polish. While Seche Vite had the first part down, I don’t feel that my polish lasted any longer than it would have without it.

If you want to try Seche Vite for yourself, it’s pretty widely available. I purchased mine at Ricky’s but have also seen it at CVS and Duane Reade. It’s also available online at Amazon.
